The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is warning the general public to be on high alert for recruitment scams being perpetrated by fraudsters posing as senior military officers.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain AV Arhin, the Armed Forces said it has received reports of individuals attempting to extort money from unsuspecting citizens under the pretext of offering recruitment assistance.

GAF has categorically stated that there is no ongoing recruitment exercise for soldiers. However, the enlistment process for officer cadets, which began last year, is currently at its final stages.

“Any individual or group claiming to facilitate recruitment into the Armed Forces in exchange for money is engaging in criminal activity,” the statement emphasized.

The Armed Forces has urged anyone who has been approached by such scammers to immediately report the matter to the nearest police station for appropriate action. It assured the public that it is working closely with law enforcement agencies to track down and prosecute those involved in these fraudulent schemes.

The GAF also advised the public to rely only on its official communication channels, the Daily Graphic, and the Ghanaian Times for authentic information regarding recruitment.

“When recruitment processes begin, announcements will be made through official platforms of the Ghana Armed Forces,” the statement added.

The Armed Forces is calling on all Ghanaians to remain vigilant and support national efforts to combat fraud and criminality. Public cooperation, it noted, is vital to maintaining the integrity and security of military recruitment.
