The Policy Advisor for Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has charged the Municipal and District Chief Executives MDCEs in the Eastern Region to serve their people in the various Assemblies with dignity, respect and humility.
Dr. Ampofo further charged them to carry themselves as the true representatives of President John Dramani Mahama who is an embodiment of humility, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of governance system in the discharge of their duties.

He was speaking during the Maiden Edition of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council Interface Meeting with the Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Eastern Region.
The Maiden Edition of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council Interface Meeting with the Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Eastern Region brought together all the newly confirmed 33 Municipal and District Chief Executives to equip them with the tools and knowledge they require to succeed in their new roles.

These tools include understanding their responsibilities, the legal framework of local governance and how to collaborate effectively with the various stakeholders in their assemblies in the discharge of their duties.
The meeting which was organized by the Eastern Regional Minister, was also to help provide them with the necessary information, guidance, and resources to effectively lead their respective Assemblies according to the local government service Act 2016, Act 936.
Giving the keynote address, the Policy Advisor for Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo advised the MDCEs to constantly try to interact with the people they serve, get to their level, understand them and also let the people understand them through regular engagement and interaction.
He charged them to carry the image of the President they are representing and asked the MDCEs to get themselves well-equipped with the local government act and the by-laws for them to always work according to the law.
Dr. Ampofo noted that the MDCEs serve as the arrowhead of development in the assembly and also serve as the fulcrum around which development evolves in the Assembly. He charged them to initiate innovative and creative measures and also take advantage of the 24-hour economic policy when it is implemented to help create jobs for the youth in their Assemblies.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey hinted that the meeting is to begin their collective journey as partners who will be working together to ensure that they kick-start the reset agenda of the government in the region.
Mrs. Awatey reiterated that the expectation of Ghanaians are so high, adding that people in the assemblies look up to the MDCEs not only for directions but also for rare results.
